Audio is an important part of video, especially wedding cinematography. Not having adequate audio with your video can make you miss out on truly re-living these memories.
There have been many times where a bride or a best man at a wedding speak so quietly that only those a few feet away from them can hear them, yes sometimes even with a mic. And our cameras are definitely not that close to you during the ceremony, or during the reception to give space to photographers.
Sometimes a couple doesn't care about adding professional audio overlay and requests raw files in hopes they'll be able to hear everything that way instead. Unfortunately that is usually not the case especially with echoes, guest chatter, ambience, wind, layout of ceremony/speaker placement, time-constraints, venue sound system failure, etc. and many other contributing factors that will drown out the sound that you REALLY want to hear.
This is where external recorders & lavalier microphones come into play. A Good wedding cinematographer will handle this with care. Whether you book us, or someone else, make sure to choose someone who knows how to capture audio :) If audio is offered as an add-on with another production company, and you care enough to hear vivid/real-time sound from your wedding day it may be a good idea to consider this investment, as it cannot be re-done after all is said and done. Corporate Interviews & testimonials can be re-recorded, but not your wedding vows or an authentic special moment at your wedding.
